PhD project:
Optimising the initiation of lactation and provision of own human milk for newborns
The aim of the current project is to explore the promoters and hinders for optimal initiation and maintenance of lactation, and establishment of successful breastfeeding. This will be done through the following studies:
- TOC – Evaluation of the implementation of a colostrum-kit. Published as Implementing a colostrum-kit reduces the time to first colostrum for neonates admitted to the NICU - a retrospective observational study doi: 10.1186/s13006-024-00682-5
- TOC-factor - Identify factors affecting early colostrum provision.
- COPE-breastmilk - Quantifying SARS-CoV2-specific antibodies (IgA, IgG and IgM) in breastmilk from infected or vaccinated lactating parents as well as exploring possible correlations to antibody levels in serum of the infected lactating parent as well as serum levels in the infant.
- COPE-separation - Explore if pandemic-restrictions affected breastfeeding and breastfeeding self-efficacy.
- COPE-BSES – Explore if general self-efficacy can be used as a proxy for breastfeeding self-efficacy.
