It is with a heavy heart and great sadness we announce the passing of our dear colleague Gun Andersson
Gun Andersson was one of the great stars in the "autism sky."
She was there 50 years ago, when we began studies on autism in Sweden. Through her selfless work as a nurse, she contributed to the development of knowledge about autism and what, in the 1970s, was referred to as "other childhood psychoses."
Gun knew—long before most others—what autism was really about. Without Gun, our advancement in understanding autism and other so-called neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) would never have happened.
Her solid knowledge of children with autism and their needs has helped so many families over the years, and she always took care of both children and parents who visited the child neuropsychiatric clinic CNC in such a kind and thoughtful way.
Gun was an extraordinary person, someone you could always trust when it came to the question of what autism really is. We miss you, but you will always be with us!
