GRACE - Graves Care
Short description
Graves' disease, a common form of toxic goitre, mainly affects women and often causes persistent symptoms such as brain fatigue after treatment. Although many people recover completely, patients have long raised their concerns without being heard. This lack of clarity leads to frustration for both patients and healthcare professionals. In our project, GRAves CarE (GRACE), we focus on how care can be improved to better support patients with Graves' disease. By implementing person-centred care and employing specialist thyroid nurses, we aim to empower patients to manage their disease.
Further information
We will map how current care meets the needs of patients, with interviews of both patients and health professionals. In two randomised studies, we will investigate whether person-centred care with an e-health tool can improve well-being, quality of life and in turn reduce sick leave days. The second randomised trial will investigate whether a brain fatigue course can reduce symptoms and improve quality of life.
By working together with dedicated researchers, healthcare professionals and patient representatives, we aim to improve the lives of those living with Graves' disease. Together, we hope to create care that truly listens and responds to patients' needs, leading to better health and quality of life.
