Ivan Kovacic is a first-year PhD student in Slavic Languages at the Department of Languages and Literatures. His thesis is about the translation of the sequence hymns in medieval Croatian Missals, and in this seminar he will present morphological analyses in Latin and Church Slavonic as a method for comparing the form and word choices in the translated hymns. The study focuses on exploring discrepancies in word choice and grammatical forms in the translations, with special attention to rhyme and metric. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Glagolitic Croatian Missals, as well as to give Ivan valuable input on his choice of method and theory.
