Our research

The research conducted at the QoG Institute primarily focuses on the theoretical and empirical problem of how high-quality political institutions can be created and maintained. We also study the effects of the quality of governance in a number of different policy areas, such as health, the environment, social policy, and poverty.

The main purpose of our research is to answer the question of how we can create and maintain high-quality public institutions, as well as to study the effects of governance quality on a range of political areas such as health, the environment, social welfare, and poverty. We strive for scientific diversity and therefore approach these issues from multiple theoretical, empirical, and methodological perspectives.

Our research has had an international focus from the very beginning. We participate in several international research projects and are an active partner in international networks dealing with corruption research and anti-corruption efforts.
